Electronic Health Card

In some states, refugees may receive an electronic health card (eGK) after leaving the initial reception facility. The various municipalities can decide for themselves whether they want to issue the electronic health card and thus participate in the framework conditions. Whoever is in possession of an eGK receives similar benefits as someone who is legally insured. Nevertheless, the scope of benefits is based on the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz) and therefore has some restrictions. 1. Here you can read in the two relevant paragraphs of the AsylbLG once again.

Overview of (non-) participating federal states

Not everyone is in favor of the electronic health card. While some see an opportunity to reduce bureaucracy, others fear that the health card will be misused.
