In this course section you will become acquainted with
- motives and motivations for helping behaviour;
- typical expectations that helpers have;
- the importance of empathy and self-efficacy in prosocial thinking and acting;
- the experience of meaningfulness and stress reduction through prosocial behaviour;
- the psychological concepts of altruism and egoism and their interaction;
- limits, risks and pitfalls of helping;
- the Helper Syndrome as an inappropriate approach to altruistic acting.
