94.03% of the 7,272 minors registered in Italy as of June 30, 2019 were accommodated in reception facilities, while 5.97% lived with private citizens.

UFMs living in second-level reception facilities are 5,745 and represent 79.01% of the total; 15.03% live in first reception facilities. First reception facilities include: first reception centers funded with FAMI (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund) financial resources; temporary reception facilities activated by Prefects in compliance with Article 19, paragraph 3-bis of Legislative Decree 142/2015 (the so-called CAS, “Extraordinary Reception Centers”); first reception facilities possessing a municipal or regional accreditation/authorization; and emergency facilities.

Second-level reception facilities include: facilities belonging to the SPRAR/SIPROIMI network; second-level facilities funded with FAMI financial resources; and all second-level reception facilities possessing a municipal or regional accreditation/authorization. As of June 30, 2019, a total of 3,730 places were funded in SPRAR/SIPROIMI facilities dedicated to unaccompanied foreign minors; 413 of these were second-level places with FAMI financing.
