Intercultural Sensitivity

In this course we will describe that intercultural sensitivity means to be aware of cultural contrasts without valuing them. You will be introduced to the Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) by Milton Bennett. The model comprises six stages of intercultural sensitivity in which the first three stages are characterised by an ethnocentristic world view whereas the last three stages imply an approach of cultural relativism.

We will explicate the six stages in detail including attitudes, typical statements and potential development tasks of each stage.
