Moving Forward

Dear friends,

the CaseWORK project is moving forward with the development of the online training courses for volunteers working with refugees and asylum seekers, which is based on the findings of the transnational report “Activists for Solidarity”. This interactive training seminar, which will be available not only in English, but also in German, Greek, Slovenian and Italian, contains three modules and round about 18 courses.

The first module informs volunteers about the History and Background of Migration in Europe and the country you choose (Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Greece and Italy) and gives an overview about the asylum system and its functions, access to health insurances and to education and jobs.

The module Intercultural Competences provides six units focusing on intercultural communication and one training session giving learners an opportunity to apply the knowledge, attitudes and competences they have acquired in the learning module. Volunteers who enroll in this course will learn about verbal, nonverbal and paraverbal aspects of human communication and their relevance in intercultural communication settings. They will also become able to identify and to reflect upon stereotypes.

The third module – Psychological Support – imparts psychological aspects and implications of helping. As helpers, learners will be able to reflect their own motivation, expectations and limits. The module explains strategies of mental hygiene and teaches learners how to apply the knowledge and skills in practical situations.
If you would like to take a sneak preview before the courses go online in Summer, we would like to invite you to our Networking Event on April, 26th at the Innovation in Learning Institute in Fürth, Germany. If you are interested just send us an E-Mail to until the 19th of April.

In order to provide the best learning experience possible, all courses are based on the same underlying structure, offering a clear and simple educational trail. Complex topics are accompanied by media elements, which are being developed at this very moment. The CaseWORK Team aims not only to provide theoretical knowledge, but to give learners practical insights. Therefore, the team plans to produce short interviews with volunteers and refugees, asking questions closely related to the topics of the three modules: Information, Intercultural Competences and Psychological Support. Do you want to contribute to our offer and share your personal experience? If so, we warmly invite you to participate at our interviews conducted by the Innovation in Learning Institute in Fürth, Germany and by Oxfam ITALIA, Italy! Just contact us via
