Back to: The Greek Asylum System and its Functions
The asylum procedure in Greece has undergone substantial reform throughout the new bill entitled “international protection and other provisions”. The new legislation, approved by the Greek Parliament (Law 4636, 01.11.2019), aims to create a clear and functional asylum system protecting legitimate asylum seekers. The UNHCR and other international aid organisations claim that the law will severely restrict access to safeguards for asylum seekers.
