In this course section we outlined a comprehensive picture of the current situation of volunteers working in the field of integration. Recent studies that showed the various experiences of volunteers have been reported. Positive attitudes as well as sceptical or critical points of view have been displayed.
A typology of motives giving reasons for the activities of volunteering persons in the area has been explicated and illustrated.
Further, the course section explicated some of the most relevant ways in which volunteers can support newcomers during their integration process and typical activities.
Finally we exemplified potential challenges and problems volunteers in the field of integration have to face.
