Once you have completed this course unit,

• you have information about the primary health care that asylum seekers receive
• you know about support services in the primary care system
• you know about health insurance and benefits outside primary care, and
• have information about further advice and service centres.

This course section is intended to give you an overview and some basic information about health insurance and health in Austria. Please note that you do not have to be an expert in this field to support refugees. The aim is to give a basic orientation so that you can give basic advice if necessary and refer to counselling and service centres of the federal government and the Länder if necessary.
